Ibicine opens the call for the Official Short Film Section of its 7th edition

The Ibiza Ibicine Festival the call to participate in the Official Short Film Section (SOC) of its seventh edition whose registration period will end on September 15th

IBICINE opens the call to participate in the Official Short Film Section (SOC) of its 7th edition, which is intended for both national and international works and whose registration period will end on September 15th.

Those interested can download the rules on the festival website. The festival will only accept registrations through the official channel (Festhome platform) and the duration of the participating short films must not exceed 30 minutes including the credits. Furthermore, each audiovisual production must be registered in one of the specific themes proposed by the festival on the platform since, otherwise, it may be disqualified. The proposed themes are: science fiction, social issues, gastronomy, horror-fantastic-suspense, mental health-psychology, Balearic Islands, international, romance, feminism-motherhood.

All national works must comply with the requirements of the bases of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences, such as presenting the Certificate of Spanish Nationality dated between January 1st, 2022 and September 30th, 2023. The creators of the Balearic Islands will also have to incorporate the residence certificate of the director or his production company.

In addition, they have indicated that the national short films selected to participate in this section will receive a qualifying seal for the Goya awards and will be able to participate in the 2025 edition of these awards, as well as that the contest rules can be consulted on the festival’s website.

The Official Short Film Section will be screened at the Jesús Cultural Center (Ibiza) between December 2023 and March 2024 for the public’s award evaluation. In addition, the works will be eligible for jury nominations for the Astarté awards in the categories of best fiction, best documentary and animated short film; best foreign short film; best direction; best script; best direction of photography; best art direction; best edition; best sound design; best original soundtrack; best actor and actress.

The seventh edition of the Ibiza Film Festival, Ibicine, will take place on the island from April 7th to 21st, 2024.

“Bet on emerging talent”

The Ibiza Film Festival is “a project that supports emerging national, international and Balearic Islands talent” and aims to “emphasize emerging filmmakers and generate links with established talents, giving special importance to short films and their technicians”, according to the words of its own director, Helher Escribano.
