II. SYNOPSIS

Philippe (Christian Clavier) is a sixty-year-old very conservative doctor who wants to earn the affection of the adolescent children of his girlfriend. To achieve this, he plans a relaxing family vacation in Ibiza, but what he did not expect was the bustle of teenagers and young people, lovers of the nightlife scene, and this reality changes his plans in a radical way.

With the production of Gaumont – L’Atelier (France) and Nexus Factory (Belgium), the film will be distributed in Spain by A Contracorriente, with a release scheduled for 2019.

The filming has generated expenses in Ibiza close to 2 million Euros, approximately 3800 or 4000 overnight stays and has given work to approximately 120 technicians and 1500 extras, causing a considerable economic impact on this island.

III. FERNANDO DE LECEA

Fernando de Lecea, with more than 30 years of experience, assures in an interview given to the Diario de Ibiza, that one of the purposes of the film Ibiza is to show a different image of the island, far from the one shown in some documentaries.

The executive producer tells us that when he manages the production in Spain, he does not only try to sell nice sets, but also, he tries to sell a country, a culture, a way of living and of working. He always tries to transmit an image of Spain. The cinematographic productions can be a great source of income, beyond the tourism, and that is the reason why he has communicated to the Consell d’Eivissa the importance of having an Ibiza Film Office that channels these needs of the cinema producers and the necessary formalities towards the different administrations.

“[…] The foreign productions receive very few subsidies that encourage them to film in Spain, but we are fighting with the aim that this situation is compared to the existing grants in other countries, with a view to improve this reality. Nobody is conscious of the industrial and economic side that this type of productions has, as Terminator or Wonder Woman, which leave a lot of money and have a very important mediatic and touristic impact. There are studies that demonstrate that a great percentage of the people chooses a certain holiday destination motivated by the locations of the cinema or series, as the ‘Movie Maps’. Spain has impressive capabilities of filming, and we are not capable of exploiting them. We have tradition, sets, wonderful locations, very good technicians, great actors and the image of the Spanish cinema abroad is really good; nevertheless, we lose many opportunities due to the limited fiscal aid in comparison with the rest of Europe. Despite this, we possess very significant products as Game of Thrones […] “.
