The Ibiza Film Commission was prominently represented at the Marché du Film, held May 13-21, 2024 in Cannes, France. This event, one of the most important in the film industry calendar, offered an invaluable opportunity to promote the island of Ibiza as a unique and versatile filming location.

During the Marché du Film, the director of the Ibiza Film Commission, Noemí Castro, attended various strategic meetings with the aim of highlighting the magic of Ibiza. These meetings were key to attracting international producers and filmmakers interested in the island’s unique characteristics, from its natural landscapes to its vibrant local culture.

One of the most relevant events in which the Ibiza Film Commission participated was ‘Mallorca meets Cannes’, organized by the Mallorca Film Commission in collaboration with Mallorca Tourism. This event brought together a large part of the audiovisual industry in Mallorca, and allowed to establish important connections between the two Balearic Islands. The collaboration between Ibiza and Mallorca was shown as a unified force to position the Balearic Islands as a top film destination.

On the second day of the festival, the Ibiza Film Commission met with several agents of the audiovisual industry in Cannes. These meetings were essential to explore new opportunities for collaboration and future projects that could be carried out in Ibiza. The intention was clear: to show Ibiza not only as a filming location, but also as a reliable and attractive partner for international productions.

In addition, Noemí Castro attended the presentation of Biam Audiovisual. This presentation was an excellent opportunity to learn about the new projects of this leading production and distribution company.evaluating possible synergies that could benefit Ibiza’s film industry.

To culminate its participation in the Marché du Film, the Ibiza Film Commission attended the cocktail party organized by ICEX, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade. This event brought together film professionals from around the world, providing an ideal environment for networking and the exchange of ideas.

The Ibiza Film Commission’s presence at the Marché du Film 2024 not only strengthened ties with the global audiovisual industry, but also underscored Ibiza’s commitment to becoming a top filming destination. Participation in Cannes highlighted the island’s potential and opened new doors for future film projects in this Mediterranean gem.
